Partnering with the Digital Human Library and Edmonton Public School Board: Inspiring the Next Generation of RVTs

Edmonton, Alberta (June, 2025) - ABVTA is proud to partner with the Digital Human Library (dHL) and the Edmonton Public School Board (EPSB)'s Community Marketplace to help students across Canada discover the vital work of Registered Veterinary Technologists (RVTs). Through this collaboration, we bring the world of veterinary technology directly into K–12 classrooms, making it more accessible and engaging for students in all communities.

What Students Can Learn

As part of the dHL and EPSB experience, ABVTA offers live, virtual sessions where students can:

  • Learn about the role of RVTs and their role in veterinary medicine
  • Understand the responsibilities of different members of the veterinary team
  • Explore educational pathways to becoming an RVT
  • Discuss the human–animal bond and how RVTs support it
  • Gain insights into basic pet care and animal wellbeing

These sessions are designed to spark curiosity, provide expert guidance, and offer real-world perspectives that inspire students to explore careers in animal care.

About the Digital Human Library

The Digital Human Library is a platform for virtual experiential learning, connecting industry professionals with K–12 teachers and students. Founded on values like service leadership, equity, curiosity, and innovation, dHL aims to provide students with diverse, inclusive, and meaningful learning experiences regardless of where they live.

The ABVTA is proud to make the world of veterinary technology more visible and inspiring through our partnership with dHL. If you’re interested in booking a virtual session with one of our RVTs, visit digitalhumanlibrary.com.

About the EPSB Community Marketplace

The Edmonton Public School Board (EPSB) Community Marketplace is a platform that connects educators with local organizations and professionals who can support and enrich classroom learning. Through the Marketplace, teachers gain access to speakers, workshops, and resources that align with curriculum and enhance student engagement.

The ABVTA’s participation in the Marketplace allows RVTs to share their expertise directly with EPSB students, supporting career exploration and awareness of veterinary health professions.

Get Involved

The ABVTA is proud to make the world of veterinary technology more visible and inspiring through our partnerships with dHL and EPSB. RVTs who are interested in volunteering as a speaker are encouraged to get involved.

If you’re interested in volunteering as a speaker, please fill out our volunteer form here. Questions?  Email us at info@abvta.com.

Together, we’re supporting students, strengthening communities, and highlighting the essential role of RVTs in animal health.
