How to Become an ABVTA Member

To become a member, individuals are required to:

1. Graduate from a CVMA or AVMA-accredited animal health or veterinary technology college program.

2. Successfully complete the Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE).

3. Apply to the ABVMA for registration and membership*.
*Application for membership for the ABVTA and ABVMA is done simultaneously through the ABVMA website.

Graduates from non-accredited animal health technology/veterinary technology programs may qualify for registration upon successful completion of an assessment that has been established by the ABVMA and the ABVTA. To view the current policy, click here.
