Communication and Advocacy in Veterinary Clinic Practice Workshop

Date: November 19, 2026
Location: Edmonton, AB

Developed by the ABVMA in partnership with the ABVTA – created and delivered by NAIT

Time: 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m., with one hour lunch break (must attend both days to receive CPD certificate)

Location: NAIT Main Campus, Edmonton. The Feltham Centre (better known as CAT) in Room CAT240

Registration fee: $400 + GST, and includes two days in-person instruction and all course materials

Effective communication is essential to every thriving veterinary practice. This new two‑day, skills‑based course equips veterinary professionals with practical tools to navigate conflict, handle difficult conversations, and communicate with clarity and compassion in a busy clinic environment.

Designed exclusively for the veterinary profession, this course is not open to the general public and is available only to:

  • Veterinarians
  • Veterinary Technologists
  • Practice Staff

Speaker: Paulette DeKelver
Mediator, lawyer and educator with 20+ years of experience helping people and organizations strengthen conflict resolution, communication and team performance. Trusted facilitator known for creating psychologically safe, engaging learning environments and translating complex interpersonal concepts into practical tools.

  • Registration opens: August 10, 2026
  • Registration closes: November 12, 2026
  • Transfers/cancellation policy/refunds:
    • Cancellations received before November 12, 2026, 11:59 p.m. MT, are eligible for a full refund, less a $5 cancellation fee.
    • Cancellations received on or after November 12, 2026, will not be refunded.
    • Transfers to a future course date may be accommodated, provided the request is received no later than one week (seven days prior) to the course. Transfer requests within seven days of the course cannot be accommodated.
