ABVTA Webinar: Defining the Boundaries Between Fact and Fiction About Supplements and Nutrients | Sponsored by Royal Canin

Registration for this event is now closed.

Supplements and functional nutrients are an integral part of our everyday practice. Omega-3 fatty acids, probiotics, glucosamine, alpha-casozepine, coconut oil... Veterinary health products are often viewed positively by cat and dog adopters.

But... how effective are they really? In this lecture, we will define the boundaries of fact and fiction with regard to the therapeutic benefits of many supplements and functional nutrients. We will also review how the regulation of these products works and understand how to use them based on evidence. What we all want to do, of course, is maximize their potential impact on the health of our patients.

Learning objectives:

Canadian Veterinary Health Products Regulations
Evidence for commonly used functional supplements and nutrients: probiotics, joint support products, cognitive support products, and many other veterinary health products will be covered.

Ethics and professional responsibility: how to base recommendations on evidence to provide the best course of treatment for the patient.

This session is approved for 1 hour of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credit for RVTs by the ABVMA.

This webinar will be recorded.

Members: Free
Non-Members: $10.00
