About Us

The Canadian Animal Task Force (CATF) is a dynamic grass roots, volunteer-driven, registered charity providing animal care programs and services for companion animals. Our Vision Statement is “Humans and companion animals live in harmony in communities where compassion, respect and kindness guide their actions.” By assisting with community safety and improving the health and well-being of animals, we are helping people, helping animals.  The Task Force Animal Hospital (TFAH) is a recently opened full service veterinary clinic that works with both low-income individuals and local rescue organizations. As a locally owned not-for-profit hospital, our goal is to ensure that everyone has access to affordable veterinary care. We offer in-house radiology, a full in-house IDEXX lab, multiple surgical suites, a dental suite, a dedicated isolation room, and more! Position Summary

We are looking for an experienced Registered Veterinary Technologist (RVT) who will play a crucial role in providing direct care to our animal patients. As a valued team member, you will leverage your clinical expertise and compassionate nature to support our veterinarians and ensure the highest standard of care for every patient. More specifically, the scope of your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Delivering high-quality nursing care, including animal restraint, triage, and administering treatments.
  • Performing surgical and anesthesia skills, including surgical preparation, sedation, anesthesia monitoring, and patient recovery
  • Assisting with diagnostics including radiology, blood collection, and other laboratory procedures.
  • Performing dental care, including charting, probing, scaling, and radiographs.
  • Providing clear and empathetic communication with clients, offering support and education on post-treatment care.
  • Demonstrating excellent organizational skills, ensuring thorough and timely record-keeping, especially in a high-volume environment.
  • Collaborating with the team to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Starting at $27.00/hr ($55,000.00-$57,000.00 per year)

Requirements

To qualify, you will need at least the following:

Education & Certification: Graduation from an accredited Animal Health Technology program with active registration as an RVT/AHT in good standing with the Alberta Veterinary Medical Association (ABVMA). Successful completion of the VTNE is required.

Experience: Minimum 2 years as an RVT, with high-volume or shelter medicine experience as an asset.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in animal nursing, anesthesia, radiology, and laboratory procedures.

Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills with a commitment to providing excellent client service and education.

Attention to Detail: Highly observant with strong organizational skills to ensure quality patient care and recordkeeping.

Physical Requirements: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and being on your feet for extended periods.

Compassion: Genuine empathy and a passion for animal welfare.

Although not required, we consider the following to be valuable assets:

  • Experience with non-profit operations.
  • Experience with Ezyvet
  • A background in the animal welfare sector.
