The celebration of Pride Month offers veterinary teams the opportunity to embrace diversity, support 2SLGBTQIA+ communities, and make a positive impact. But why limit these actions to just one month? Here are five impactful ways to honour Pride and create an inclusive environment all year round:🌈 1️⃣ Bring Yourself Up to Speed with 2SLGBTQIA+ TerminologyEmbrace inclusive language to create a welcoming environment for colleagues, clients, and the community. Learn and practice correct terminology for 2SLGBTQIA+ identities, including pronouns, gender identities, and respectful communication.🌈 2️⃣ Wear Pronoun Nametags and ButtonsWear and encourage staff to wear pins or buttons with their pronouns (e.g., “She/Her,” “They/Them”). This normalizes pronoun sharing and signals to clients and colleagues that your clinic values respect and inclusivity.🌈 3️⃣ Fly the Progress Pride FlagDisplay the Progress Pride Flag, with its rainbow, black, brown, pink, light blue, and white stripes representing marginalized 2SLGBTQIA+ communities. It’s a strong statement of support and inclusivity.🌈 4️⃣ Donate and Plan a March with your ClinicDonate to a local 2SLGBTQIA+ organization, animal welfare group, or local 2SLGBTQIA+ youth shelter. March in your local Pride Parade with friends and coworkers to show public support.🌈 5️⃣ Display 2SLGBTQIA+ Resources in the ClinicSet up a resource station in your clinic’s lobby or break room with pamphlets, flyers, and contact info for 2SLGBTQIA+ support services, including 2SLGBTQIA+ friendly veterinary care, mental health services, and local community organizations.By taking these steps, you’ll not only honour Pride Month but also help ensure that clients, coworkers, and pets feel seen, valued, and respected every day of the year. 🌈💙 ... ☀️ If it’s too hot for people, it’s too ho ☀️ If it’s too hot for people, it’s too hot for our pets.☀️

Never leave a pet unattended in a vehicle, even with the windows cracked. In just 10 minutes, the temperature inside a parked car can increase by up to 20°C, putting your pet in serious danger.

Instead, leave pets at home in a cool space and check on them regularly to make sure they’re safe and comfortable.
