The Alberta Veterinary Technologist Association (ABVTA) is proud to partner with the Digital Human Library (dHL) and the Edmonton Public School Board (EPSB)’s Community Marketplace to help students across Canada discover the vital work of Registered Veterinary Technologists (RVTs). Through this collaboration, we bring the world of veterinary technology directly into K–12 classrooms, making it more accessible and engaging for students in all communities.
What Students Can Learn
As part of the dHL and EPSB experience, ABVTA offers live, virtual sessions where students can:
- Learn about the role of RVTs and their role in veterinary medicine
- Understand the responsibilities of different members of the veterinary team
- Explore educational pathways to becoming an RVT
- Discuss the human–animal bond and how RVTs support it
- Gain insights into basic pet care and animal wellbeing
These sessions are designed to spark curiosity, provide expert guidance, and offer real-world perspectives that inspire students to explore careers in animal care.

Through the Marketplace, teachers gain access to speakers, workshops, and resources that align with curriculum and enhance student engagement.
The ABVTA’s participation in the Marketplace allows RVTs to share their expertise directly with EPSB students, supporting career exploration and awareness of veterinary health professions.
