The results from the 2024 Wage and Benefits Survey are now available.

This year’s findings offer valuable insight into the experiences, challenges, and priorities of RVTs across Alberta. As the veterinary profession continues to evolve, this data helps us better understand the realities RVTs face in the workplace such as compensation, benefits, job satisfaction, and professional development.

Key findings from 2024 reveal that 40% of respondents did not receive a wage increase in the past 12 months, and 21% report never having a performance review. Additionally, nearly 20% of respondents say they receive no health benefits, and 24% report having no paid sick days.

While there are areas of progress, many of the issues identified are consistent with trends seen in previous years. These findings, along with earlier data from the 2022 RVT Compensation Review, continue to highlight the need for improved compensation structures and more consistent support for RVTs in the workplace.
